Iranian film ‘5 p.m.’ sets a new box office record at the eighth day of screening.

Iranian film ‘5 p.m.’ has set a new box office record at the eighth day of screening.

The movie sold 30 billion rials (about $800,000) on the eighth day of screening in 58 Iranian cinema theaters.

Directed by Mehran Modiri, ‘5 p.m.’ also set another record on the first day of screening last week.

Set in populated streets of Tehran, the film narrates the story of a man who needs to do troublesome task from 7 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon.

The film stars artists such as Siamak Ansari, Amir Jafari, Azadeh Samadi as well as its director. ‘5 p.m.’ is the first cinematic title by Modiri as director.

Modiri has directed and appeared in several series such as 'The Man of Two Thousand Faces', 'Bitter Coffee', 'My Villa', 'I'm Just Kidding', 'In Hashieh', and 'Sneeze'.

The comedian/auteur began acting at a young age and appeared in a number of plays before attending the University of Tehran, Faculty of Art.

He received a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at Fajr Film Festival for his role in 'There is Always a Woman Involved'.
